Is water actually bad for your skin?

Oh, the holidays.

It’s that time of year where we really shouldn’t (although we always do) feel bad about our winter bodies, splurge on frivolous things (and then regret it), and wish we had booked that vacation on a sunny island somewhere sipping margaritas. Maybe we should we have thought twice about our winter body in that bikini. Oops. Maybe I’ll tackle that in the new year.

But most of all, it’s that time of year when the weather drops and your skin starts to feel a little bit drier than normal.  How will you be prepping your skin this season?

Before you say “I will be drenching myself with my $150 moisturizer every morning”, let me ask you: What is the #1 ingredient in that product? In fact, what is the #1 ingredient in majority of the skin care products currently on the market (splurge or steal)?

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you would guess that the answer is: Water. And you would be correct! Majority of the time, Water is the #1 ingredient found in skin care products. But why is that? Why is water included in my skin care ingredients? Is it moisturizing? Is it hydrating?

Now, let’s pause for a moment and go back to that sunny beach vacation that we were just talking about. You’ve found yourself enjoying the sun and the sand. You may have sipped a margarita or two and ended up just sun bathing in the water for 2 or 3 hours. You look down at your hands to admire that beautiful tan and “Oh My!” What happened to your fingers and toes? You’ve been sitting in the water for so long that your skin has become wrinkled like a prune!

So tell me again, why is Water the #1 ingredient found in skin care products?

Why would I be using an anti-aging serum to plump up my wrinkles and fine lines when the number one ingredient has proven to dry out my skin and wrinkle it?

We, at PUR attitude, created our products with our everyday skin care routines in mind. And with that came questions about why we use the products we do? Why are certain ingredients essential? What we came up with will blow your mind…

Quick lesson: Hyaluronic Acid is a carbohydrate that occurs naturally and is found in virtually every cell of our body. It draws up to 1,000 times its weight in water (i.e. it’s more hydrating than water) and works hand-in-hand with the collagen in our skin. High levels of Hyaluronic Acid equals moisturized, firmer, and nourished skin. When collagen fibers lack Hyaluronic Acid, they start to loosen over time and don’t return to its original size and shape — hence the contribution to wrinkles and creases we see in our skin.

Fun Fact: Most of the dermal fillers that doctors offer to inject into your face and lips are simply just high concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid designed to draw water to that area and hold it there, filling in the wrinkled areas.

And our creation? Skin Care products that replaces water with the power of natural Hyaluronic Acid. You read that right! You will not find any water in any of our ingredients — because all we want is to provide you with products and remedies where each individual ingredient serves its purpose. And surely we would like to provide an actual solution to anti-aging and skin care rather than diluting and masking it in the meantime.

We use only 100% safe and pure ingredients. In fact, we follow the European standard by banning over 1,300 chemicals from our lab that have found to be toxic (the FDA has only banned 11 chemicals, if you’re wondering). PUR attitude was created with the routines of the everyday woman in mind. It was created for you, your mother, your sister, daughter, mother-in-law, cousin, etc. We’re on a mission to transform lives and get healthy, safe, and effective products into the hands of everyone.

Oh, the holidays. It’s that time of year when you start thinking about what to get your loved ones. Show them that you care about their health and well-being. Give them the gift of PUR attitude. I love this time of year.

Best,
